Virtually all types of premises both domestic and commercial can benefit from the use of doormats.

However it is important to carefully consider the correct doormat to suit your requirements.

For instance if there is likely to be a large volume of foot traffic then a heavy duty doormat is a must. This would be suitable in premises with a large number of visitors such as airports, shopping centres, schools, hospitals and busy office buildings.

An additional way to lessen the dirt and dust enetering a building would be to use a scraper type doormat outside of the entrance. This will initially remove any heavy debris from shoes and boots and then an interior doormat will remove finer dirt and debris and moisture from foot traffic.

Some buildings are designed with a recess in the floor to accommodate a mat. This is known as a mat well and special doormats are available to fit inside these mat wells. A matwell has the advantage that a the top surface of the mat is flush with the floor and this significantly reduces trip hazards.
